Hi,
  Can you include a copy of your /etc/default/grub

The error in the log is:

/etc/default/grub: 9: splash: not found
User postinst hook script [/usr/sbin/update-grub] exited with value 127
dpkg: error processing linux-image-2.6.32-28-generic (--configure):
 subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 127

but that line in my /etc/default/grub is:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"

so it shouldn't try and execute or search for splash; have you edited the
command line for the kernel and perhaps added an odd
character?

Dave
