Binary package hint: unity

What I'm seeing here, 2 installs, one fresh today, one about a week old
Install an application that has never been installed previously, after install 
open
add the application to the launcher, then close the app
attempt to open from the launcher, nothing happens, icon pulses

Do a restart - the app will have disappeared from the launcher
repeat the above, now app can be opened from the launcher
