Public bug reported: Hello,
I'm not sure if this really is a bug, but on my desktop-system with Ubuntu Dapper I noticed harddisc access every few seconds every 4-5 seconds, even when there are not programs open and not further applet loaded (except the watch). So memory (512MB installed) is ok, and I checked that no swap is used. Also I disabled S.M.A.R.T in system-BIOS, but without any success. There are several postings in www.ubuntuforums.org and www.ubuntuusers.de allready (new ones and old ones before dapper), so it seems I'm not the only one, and the problem seems to exist a little bit longer. Here are some example postings in the above mentioned forums: http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/22098/?highlight=festplatte+zugriff http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=36976&highlight=hdd+activity http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=5617 Regards, Ralf ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Harddisc access https://launchpad.net/bugs/56208 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
