Public bug reported: myself as well as many others on the forums have a problem booting into Ubuntu with an nvidia 7800gt graphics card, I cant even get it too boot from the live cd.
this post on the forums seems to have a fix: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=2268952 ive tested this issue with the 7.04 feisty beta as well and it still exists, its been kind of upsetting for me because Ive been recommending and giving out Ubuntu cds to tons of my clients who can get it to boot from the cd and install without a problem but when i tried to install it on my main system i came across this issue which prevents me from using Ubuntu exclusively, it seems as though its a simple problem with assigning the correct driver to that series of video card in the xorg.conf if possible i would like this update fixed for feisty as i frequently need to boot from the cd to show my clients how easy it is but when i have to press f6 and edit files etc. it kind of discourages them even though they wouldn't have to on their systems it gives them a bad first impression and furthers the "myth" of Linux being too complicated for the average user. thank you for your time. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- nvidia 7800gt live cd/ install issue https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/105902 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
