I encoutner the same problem. This is a no go for upgrading
I suspect an issue with udev, so I did the followign:
1- plug USB stick
2- sudo udevmonitor on a terminal
3- eject USB stick
this gets displayed:
UEVENT[1176404173.725125] umount /block/sdb/sdb1 (block)
UDEV [1176404173.725738] umount /block/sdb/sdb1 (block)
UEVENT[1176404173.873035] remove /block/sdb/sdb1 (block)
UDEV [1176404173.890278] remove /block/sdb/sdb1 (block)
UEVENT[1176404174.012012] add /block/sdb/sdb1 (block)
UDEV [1176404174.217731] add /block/sdb/sdb1 (block)
UEVENT[1176404174.578008] mount /block/sdb/sdb1 (block)
UDEV [1176404174.579115] mount /block/sdb/sdb1 (block)
Note the add event that retrigers the stick to be reloaded. bug in udev
? in the kernel ?
unpractical workaround: sudo umount /media/disk
