Public bug reported:
Trying to install Ubuntu Server 10.10, 64 bit on an AMD 64 bit system.
Install proceeds fine until reaching the point where It is installing
the base system. Window / progress bar appear for "Updating the list of
available packages" and stops at 73%. I have tried install repeatedly,
fails at same place.
Also fails with Server 10.04.2 LTS version at the same point.
Desktop version Amd 64 - 10.10 installs with no problem.
Tried multiple CD-roms and DVDs (burned slow, MD5's checked on downloads and
disks etc.) - all failed at same point.
Eventually switched the Sony Optiarc Model AD-7170A DVD/CD-Rom combo drive with
a standard cd-rom drive and was able to successfully install AMD 64 server
version 10.10.
