The fix on the aptdaemon side was released today with version
0.41+bzr586-0ubuntu2 (the actual fix for this bug was in aptdaemon
version 0.41+bzr582-0ubuntu1, but this earlier revision was never
released in Ubuntu):
aptdaemon (0.41+bzr586-0ubuntu2) natty; urgency=low
* debian/control: Add proper Conflicts:/Replaces: to avoid file overwrite

before the progress bar appears.
