The bug reported here is about the lid close blanking even the external screen.
Which is fixed as per gpm author.
The GUI option will not be exposed, but the option will be available in the
gconf/dconf

interested in discussing the change kindly do so in upstream bugzilla
with the upstream authors . Changing the bug status here is not going to
fix it.
