Enabling the third-party drivers from System -> Administration -> Additional drivers gives the error posted above. The solution is to install the drivers manually. Then the graphic card will get accelerated.
But now I'm having a new problem: the system hangs when, for example, I try to see some videos from youtube at the same time. I have to reset the notebook by holding the power button for some seconds.
