Here the same, always hanging up while installing from usbStick.  The
terminal showed that it was waiting for the CD-rom. After I killed that.
Ubuntu was able to boot. i then used apt-get to upgrade the system. A
day later it booted up without Unity. Only the background picture and
telling it was missing compiz. I opened a terminal and apt-get install
unity and compiz brought it , after downloading a few hunderd MB back to
live.

I am afraid I miss programs or librarys because the ubs install went wrong. I 
tried 3 stick and two pc's.
By the way, making the 11.04 iso usb sticks also ended in a hanging application 
(from 10.10) so i thought it was only my problem but now it looks like I am not 
the only one
