@Dmitri, interesting, how did that document leak out on the net? :-) Anyway, according to the ALC268 datasheet, pin 37 is connected to nid 16h. Would it be possible for someone with the hardware to do this: download and install snd-hda-tools from my ppa (ppa:diwic/maverick). Start hda_analyzer with this command: "sudo hda_analyzer". Then go to "Pin 16h" in the left pane. You'll find a "Mute" button, try to unmute it. Does that make the subwoofer work? Please try this both with headphones unplugged and plugged in. Thanks!
