One more thing: I tried the "Post 18" fix, but I am not sure if I
actually tried it with Skype. I tried it with Google Talk, and there
seemed to be some audio coming through to the other side. It was very
low volume and noisy, though, so barely usable. There were also feedback
loops, not sure if that is a problem of the Acer hardeware or a software
problem.

This bug is actually a deal breaker for me, as I specifically bought the
notebook for mum so that she could do video chat with her grandchildren.
I blame Skype rather than Ubuntu, but still, it is a shame. I also look
stupid in front of my friends, who kept telling me I should just leave
Windows 7 on the system.
