Hello, Good to know this does not work with ubuntu 6.10 - so I'll be patient.
In the meantime I have stepped to version 0.9.2. of kino by applying a backport using prevu. It seems to work stable. Other than that, I'm no maintainer of kino, just an ordinary user.
