I've exact the same problem with Linux Mint 10 KDE (it is based on Ubuntu 10.10). I've installed update of xserver-xorg-video-intel from the x-swat ppa and everithing is ok now. I followed recommendations on this page: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=109&t=66815&p=390095#p388593
