I just made a giant upgrade on one computer from 9.04 to 10.10, and then
noticed this same bug suddenly appearing.  The auto-detect is apparently
still broken in 10.10.  Forcing to MSC in the Sansa clip+ settings does
work as a workaround, but this is not at all user friendly, as the
failure is completely silent.  (Most users don't know about syslog, and
will never find this thread.)

Understandably the maintainers of this probably don't have the device on
hand.  Is there some information which would help in diagnosing it?
