A similar bug affects video playback in the kdenlive video editor-I just filed this report:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cairo-dock/+bug/729970 Fixing vlc, smplayer, kdenlive, etc to deal with this will work but is the slow, difficult way. It will ultimately need to be fixed either in QT where the but is said to originate or in cairo-dock where it is being invoked.
