I am unable to reproduce this on my beagleC4. The Maverick image for Arm currently does not support serial console by default.
Could you post your /var/log/syslog and /var/log/oem-config.log files to this bug? If your system doesn't have network access (or the install failed), use your host pc to mount the second (root) partition and post from there.
