Not to add noise to that thread -
In regards to the new dash feature - "Apps available for download" the
workaround isn't going to help
While the preload does work from the cli or if added to the .desktop as an env,
dash doesn't use the .desktop in this instance.
So the feature is dead on affected machines without a fix (or downgrading)
(here i set up a diversion to the /usr/bin/software-center link that
exports the preload, that allows it to work fine from dash but not
anything but a personal temp solution
