Same problem.
Version tried: Kubuntu 6.06 (Three times)
Ubuntu 6.06.1 (Once)
Kubuntu 6.06.1 (Once, hitting the enter key a few times
after the black screen got Kubuntu installed).
Hardware: Dell Inspiron 6000: 915GM, native LCD resolution 1920x1200.
But I can only get 1600X1200. Installing 915resolution does not help.
