Hi Julian, I am now running a kernel 2.6.37-12 on which the problem is definitively solved. I am using usbserial for microcontroller development (at91sam9263) and a new driver I need (sam_ba) is only available from this kernel version onwards. Uli

Could you update your system and give it another try? -- You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/708068 Title: usbserial problems Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Binary package hint: setserial Hi, I use an USB to RS232 adapter to connect to an ARM development board via minicom or cutecom. After plugging I see that usbserial is loaded and used by mct_u232: (line from "lsmod") usbserial 33100 1 mct_u232 I also see a new device /dev/ttyUSB0 however: setserial -g /dev/ttyUSB0 tells me: "/dev/ttyUSB0: Invalid argument" I am in group "dialout", it is not an "access denied" problem. When starting minicom, it starts fine the first time after plugging in the USB->RS232 adapter. When exiting and re-starting minicom however I also get: minicom: cannot open /dev/ttyUSB0: Invalid argument (cutecom shows the same effect) I guess it is a driver problem but I am not sure. Ubuntu release 10.10 all upgrades applied.
