Here is whats happening:

...
Stopping postfix greylisting daemon: postgrey.
db4.7_upgrade: Program version 4.7 doesn't match environment version 4.8
db4.7_upgrade: DB_ENV->open: DB_VERSION_MISMATCH: Database environment version
mismatch
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/postgrey_1.32-4_all.deb
(--unpack):
 subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1
...

this causes the unpack to fail and this causes the subsequent configure to
fail. This is not a dpkg/apt bug
but a bug in the postgrey package (or in the db handling code).

** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 541595
   [Master] package failed to install/upgrade: package is already installed and
configured

** Package changed: dpkg (Ubuntu) => postgrey (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: postgrey (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: postgrey (Ubuntu)
