Here is the root cause of this error:
...
dpkg: unrecoverable fatal error, aborting:
 files list file for package 'libglib-perl' is missing final newline
dpkg: error processing linux-image-2.6.32-24-generic (--configure):

Could you please attach the file /var/lib/dpkg/info/libglib-perl.list

This usually indicates a hardware problem, could you please check your
disk and memory?
