Yes, I was mounting ecryptfs on top of ecryptfs.  The lower mount was
the version ubuntu does on login to mount my home directory.  On top of
that, I'd mounted with passthrough=no.

A work-around was to move the the encrypted files for the upper mount
from $HOME/.common/ to /home/common/ and then to mount that to
$HOME/common/.  So I believe this bug is related to the two-level deep
ecryptfs mount.

I never saw real data corruption.  Sometimes programs would report
corrupted data (corresponding to the EIO lines in /var/log/messages),
but a second try a bit later always succeeded.  So no data corruption,
just a bug...

The work-around (of moving the lower directory out of my ecryptfs-
mounted homedir) is completely acceptable to me, fwiw.
