Hi, Dustin. Thanks for following on. Yes, I was mounting ecryptfs on top of ecryptfs. The lower mount was the version ubuntu does on login to mount my home directory. On top of that, I'd mounted with passthrough=no.
A work-around was to move the the encrypted files for the upper mount from $HOME/.common/ to /home/common/ and then to mount that to $HOME/common/. So I believe this bug is related to the two-level deep ecryptfs mount. I never saw real data corruption. Sometimes programs would report corrupted data (corresponding to the EIO lines in /var/log/messages), but a second try a bit later always succeeded. So no data corruption, just a bug... The work-around (of moving the lower directory out of my ecryptfs- mounted homedir) is completely acceptable to me, fwiw. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/656142 Title: ecryptfs reports errors, especially under system load -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
