Thanks for your bugreport.

When using your system state data I get:
$ apt-get -o Apt::architecture=i386 -o Dir=./ -o
Dir::state::status=./var/lib/dpkg/status dist-upgrade -s |grep -A2 -B2 coreutils
...
Inst plymouth [0.8.2-2ubuntu2.2] (0.8.2-2ubuntu5.1 de.archive.ubuntu.com
[i386]) []
Inst libplymouth2 [0.8.2-2ubuntu2.2] (0.8.2-2ubuntu5.1 de.archive.ubuntu.com
[i386])
Inst coreutils [7.4-2ubuntu3] (8.5-1ubuntu3 de.archive.ubuntu.com [i386])
Conf coreutils (8.5-1ubuntu3 de.archive.ubuntu.com [i386])
Inst mountall [2.15.3] (2.19 de.archive.ubuntu.com [i386])
Inst python2.6-dev [2.6.5-1ubuntu6] (2.6.6-5ubuntu1 de.archive.ubuntu.com
[i386]) []
...

So that looks all right. But this is not what the log attached said, I'm
trying to figure out more now.
