Since this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin
work, I'm going to mark it as Triaged.
As the bug does not appear to impact the consistency of the database
(i.e. the WRITE lock does prevent inserts in other sessions) I am
assigning this bug 'Medium' importance.
I've also taken a look upstream and can't find any bug reports similar
to this issue.
