Public bug reported:

I am currently running ubuntu 10.10 on IBM ThinkPad T43.
I wanted to try out the alpha of 11.04; downloaded the .iso from
http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/natty/alpha3 ; created a bootable usb using
system -> administration -> startup disc creator; restarted my pc and reassured
myself that my first booting device was USB stick (the particular one i'm using
is Sony brand, 4GB storage).
my laptop initiated boot from usb, got the ubuntu loading screen (first the
purple screen with "keyboard = human" logo at bottom, then the five loading
dots under Ubuntu) and got no response for about 15 minutes. the hdd never
stopped spinning and the usb stick was warm, meaning it is in use. restarted
using ctrl+alt+del and waited for another 15 minutes of loading screen. even
though the laptop is not very powerful (1,8 Ghz intel pentium M, 1gb ram) the
expected result was that it should have loaded the installation for 15minutes.
same operation with ubuntu 10.10 took about 15 minutes with full install on the
same machine.

if you need any further information, please let me know.
