X won't start on my MS-1039 laptop with Feisty. Both the x86 and a64
beta live CD's of Feisty produce the same problem: Just before X
starts I get "Soft Lockup Detected on CPU#0". Furthermore, I get the
same problem with the daily live CD. Even furthermore upgrading Edgy
6.10 to Feisty 7.04 causes a black screen and CPU lockup as soon as X
starts with both kernels 2.6.20-14-generic and 2.6.20-15-generic and the
new BCollins 2.6.20-15.26 (on a fresh upgrade). THE ONLY METHOD WHICH
WORKS: booting from the 2.6.20-15-generic kernel in recovery mode
(single user mode). From there I can "startx" and everything works like
a dream. The BUG # of the soft lockup is different everytime and occurs
on the live cd's just after CUPSD is loaded (right before X starts) .
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
