We never did get a lsusb output from the original poster, but if the
problem still exists in Lucid the Lucid 2.6.32-30.59 kernel may fix the
problem:

* USB: usb-storage: unusual_devs update for TrekStor DataStation maxi
g.u external hard drive enclosure

>From the upstream 2.6.32.29 kernel:

commit 255639227afcaff09a84ff2fc4cef8019f15c8c1

USB: usb-storage: unusual_devs update for TrekStor DataStation maxi g.u
external hard drive enclosure

    commit 7e1e7bd9dbd469267b6e6de1bf8d71a7d65ce86a upstream.

The TrekStor DataStation maxi g.u external hard drive enclosure uses a
JMicron USB to SATA chip which needs the US_FL_IGNORE_RESIDUE flag to work
    properly.
