Public bug reported:
The bookmarks toolbar is never, ever successfully disabled.
Steps:
View -> Toolbars -> Bookmarks Toolbar, ensure that it's unticked.
Bookmarks toolbar goes away.
Restart Firefox.
Bookmarks toolbar is back.
This may be related to the fact that I have no items on the bookmarks
toolbar.
