Binary package hint: libapache2-mod-php5
I upgraded from 6.04 to 6.10 and then to 7.04 (Feisty). During 7.04 upgrade it
asked me to choose between this choices:
a) keep the old config files
b) rewrite them with new files
I don't remember which files exactly asked to. I just remember that it was
something connected with apache2. I chose "keep the old config files".
When I booted to 7.04 first time, apache worked well with php module,
but mod_rewrite did not work. I tried to purge & reinstall all apache2 +
php packages. After that apache2 worked without php module (executing
php files causes a dialog to save them by a browser, as described
lower). So I purged the libapache2-mod-php5 and reinstall it again.
Nothing changed, the php module does not work either after apache2
restart. In the /var/log/apache2 there is a message:
[notice] Apache/2.2.3 (Ubuntu) PHP/5.2.1 configured -- resuming normal
operations
In the file listing of the apache2 document root there is a message
which says that PHP works well:
Apache/2.2.3 (Ubuntu) PHP/5.2.1 Server at localhost Port 80
When I start a PHP script via browser, it opens a Open or Save file
dialog. When I click to open it in gedit, it shows this:
title: phpinfo-1.php (/tmp)
content:
<?php phpinfo(); ?>
(the whole content of the file)
