This is a horrendous bug. I have seen my NTFS mounts fail silently for a
while, and I had absolutely no inkling why, even after using strace. I'm
surprised more people don't see this (I suspect few use loop-aes)

Not only mounts fail, but of course grub2's os-prober fails as well. And
since grub2 is so smart, it's really hard to configure a static grub
entry (the "custom" gets ignored for some other reason).

This really needs to be fixed, or worked around in fuse.
