I think that in the long run "Automatic" (with the "Require" flag off)
will be a more sensible default than "Ignore" -- it's also the default
for IPv4 after all.

The problem isn't big at the moment (people who have IPv6 tend to know
they do, they can find this bug and the workaround), but once IPv6
deployment picks up for "normal" people (expected in the next few years)
re-evaluation of the default might be necessary.
