Something seems to be broken on your system. The Python module
"hpmudext" is supplied by hplip and hp-systray is supplied by hplip-gui.
hplip-gui depends on hplip, so if hp-systray is there, the "hpmudext"
must be available.

What is the output of the following commands in a terminal window:

dpkg -l | grep hplip
ls -l /usr/lib/pyshared/*/hpmudext.so
python --version
which python
