Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: unity
OK just making sure I have this right, the File and Folders plane in unity is
were you search for your files, I had assumed it would be able to find anything
in /home/andrew but i have done a test and it can only find about 10% of files,
if found nothing in downloads, only two items in documents etc.
After testing for some time I have found that it actually only finds files that
have been recently worked with. IE after I open a file it can't find it then
shows up in results.
I expected this to work like gnome-do and have a background index of important
places.
Reproduce:
find any file that you have not opened on this machine then type in the name to
places Dash or Files and if will fail to find it.
is there some sort of process that runs on first install to index them
all that might have failed?
