I don´t really know if my problem is the same, but it sounds really familiar with my problem:
I always use the Multi-Column-View for file Browsing. I saved it in a new Profile called MyKonqui and I start all instances of Konqueror with konqueror --profile MyKonqui because, otherwise it didn`t saved the viewmode, like described by Paul Tanimoto and Yuriy Kozlov. But when I go up in the folder hierarchy using the up Arrow (near the back, forward symbol in the toolbar) the viemode changes to icon view, which is really annoying. This also happens, when I open a new tab. Always the new tab starts in the icon view mode and I have to change it to the multi-column-view I want. I`m not sure if these problems are just wishes, because they ignore or change the configuration of the user.
