I appreciate your letting me know what the problem is. Here I thought I would be some help in testing the pre-release Natty, and now I find out it can't run Unity, the basic UI in VirtualBox.
I thought that was the whole point of running pre-release systems inside virtual environments - allowing testing without disturbing the existing system... I should have known it was too good to be true. :-( I'm sorry to have wasted your time with this.
