Unfortunately, the basic method of applying patches will not work for
these patches against Hardy.  Like you mention, additional changes are
required since the patches were pulled from upstream git commits, which
are well after Hardy.

While the latest code has only one place that actually registers the
interrupt, there are several places in the old code, which would need to
be addressed.
