Public bug reported:
I am running Edgy Ubuntu for powerpc on a Power Mac G5. In the /etc
directory, I have the following fstab files:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 2007-04-15 12:31 /etc/fstab
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 511 2006-12-22 19:21 /etc/fstab.pre-uuid
As can be seen from the size of the files, /etc/fstab is emtpy. However,
if I copy fstab.pre-uuid over fstab and reboot, the fstab becomes empty
again.
The problem with having an empty /etc/fstab file is that it seems this
is necessary for the df command to show sizes for the / partition. Also,
I noticed that there is no entry for / in /etc/mtab. So, it seems that
many things rely on having a sane /etc/fstab file.
