Hi Matt! Thanks for your bug report. The bug you describe has been fixed
in the latest development version of software-center. To resolve this
issue in Ubuntu 10.10, please delete the file
"/home/<your_username>/.config/software-center/softwarecenter.cfg". The
dot folders can be made visible in your file browser by using the
shortcut key ctrl+h. Please continue to report any bugs you may find in
software-center. Thanks again for your help!
