The solution proposed above works well for the panels (implement at revision 
492 of the branch linked).
However, I uncovered another related issue: the launcher’s contextual menus’ 
geometry is wrong. This is very likely because their calculation internally 
relies on QDesktopWidget::availableGeometry(…). I’m investigating how to fix 
that.
