This seems similar to:

And in fact, as I should have noticed from the dump, it is not related
to iscsi shutting down, but the daemon starting up without being able to
re-connect to the existing targets.  This means it will also crash if I
start the iscsi daemon independent of any upgrade (confirmed, when doing
/etc/init.d/open-iscsi start, I loose root).

Apparently fixed in a later version...
