well unfortunately iv just resorted to reinstalling ubuntu. (something
else broke which was admittedly my fault). again though on a fresh
install i had to manually edit the network interfaces file to get
wireless working. The good news however is that i no longer have to
restart the network each time i log-on. im just going to presume that i
must have some how turned it off like you said yeti.
