I'm not sure exactly what the current status is of RANDR support in
-nvidia is, but I believe it is still kind of a work in progress and
rather new. It is possible this is simply not yet fully supported by
the driver.
Not to say that the applet should crash when it's flipped on - it
shouldn't. But the core issue of RANDR support needs solved upstream
most likely.
