That's basically correct. The mouse moves, but nothing responds. It is as though some window has grabbed the mouse cursor, but there is no such window present.
The effect is evident after everything has loaded. The desktop looks normal, but nothing responds. I can switch to a console, though I have always "fixed" the problem with Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, so I don't know which process is holding the mouse. No process is using up CPU time. The two times it happened under Edgy were both in the last couple of weeks. I don't know of any configuration change or software installation that would have caused it. Though it happens quite infrequently and I know how to deal with the problem when it occurs, a less savvy user would be completely lost as to what to do. Thus I would say that it is a very serious, but infrequent, problem. -- Desktop locked up on login https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/52380 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
