I had this problem too. indicator-weather crashed (so did not delete the .pid file) and would not reopen on the next boot.
I like John's suggestion of moving the file to /tmp/indicator-weather- USERID.pid . This way if indicator-weather does not get shut down cleanly, the .pid file is automatically deleted next time the computer reboots - this method is simple and clean. ** Patch added: "move-pid-file-to-tmp-lp739907.patch" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-weather/+bug/739907/+attachment/1945103/+files/move-pid-file-to-tmp-lp739907.patch ** Changed in: weather-indicator Status: Incomplete => In Progress ** Changed in: weather-indicator Status: In Progress => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/739907 Title: indicator-weather failed to start falsely reporting duplicate instance -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
