This is a temporary fix that you can implement without rebooting, but
the bug still needs to be remedied.

After resuming from suspend the bluetooth icon will indeed be gone from
the panel.  That is because the process "bluetooth-applet" is not
running.

To fix, press Alt+F2 to get the "Run Application" window and type in the
command "bluetooth-applet" and run. The BT icon is back with all its
neat features w/o having to restart the machine.
