Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pidgin

I am using a Dell Mini 9 with fresh install of ubuntu 11.04, so do not
have much real estate. I found Unity to time consuming to use. So I
changed to classic ubuntu desktop. When opening Pidgin there is no
option to edit preferences, I have a File menu, but no others.

My question is why not ?
1)
You are using Ubuntu 11.04 - the Natty Narwhal - released in April 2011 and
supported until October 2012.
2)
apt-cache policy pidgin
pidgin:
  Installed: 1:2.7.9-1ubuntu2
  Candidate: 1:2.7.9-1ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 1:2.7.9-1ubuntu2 0
        500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main i386 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
3)
Next to File on the toapt-cache policy pidgin
pidgin:
  Installed: 1:2.7.9-1ubuntu2
  Candidate: 1:2.7.9-1ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 1:2.7.9-1ubuntu2 0
        500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main i386 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
task bar I expected to see Edit menu
4)
Nothing happened as there was no edit menu,

Finally0
I need access to the edit menu to disable the Pidgin Logs, sounds and Nasty
popups when people message me.

Many thanks in advance
Ian
