Public bug reported:
I've attempted to upgrade from 10.10 to 11.04 alphas a few times over
the past few weeks, and each time, I've been hit by the same issue. The
installer complains that it cannot upgrade xubuntu-desktop and bails
out. The logs reveal a conflict between xfce4-notifyd and notification-
daemon (neither of which is installed on 10.10).
