Public bug reported:

I have an HP dv5000 laptop with this sound card:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition
Audio Controller (rev 01)
Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Unknown device 30a5
Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr-
Stepping- SERR+ FastB2B-
        Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- <TAbort-
<MAbort- >SERR- <PERR-
Latency: 0, Cache Line Size: 64 bytes
Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 22
        Region 0: Memory at d2400000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]

It generally works fine, but recently (this is Feisty) I've noticed the
balance on the headphones shift to the right, to the point where there
is no sound on the left channel at all. The alsamixer balance doesn't
reflect this (and, indeed, I can use it to compensate for a time).
Reloading the snd-hda-intel module causes the sound to return to normal.
This isn't related to suspend, it'll happen during normal use coming
from a boot.

** Affects: Ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
