Public bug reported:
To reproduce:
1. Buy a brand new G5 Quad from Apple
2. Bring it home
3. Hook it up to network and monitor
4. Bring out your nice Dapper install CD
5. Boot from it
6. Watch it reach X (first the x-shaped cursor, then the normal arrow for a
while)
7. Watch it lock up the machine hard, ramping fans, etc.
I'm at a bit of a loss on how to debug this further, since I know very
little of how the boot environment works on the live CD. Debian Etch
install cd boots fine, but that's just a text mode installer. I also
don't have a serial port on this machine so I can't get xmon or oops
output there (Geethree.com doesn't make one for this model).
I'm currently downloading the alternate install cd and will use that to
install, but I figured I'd report this in case it's a known issue or if
someone else has seen it. Chances are it exists on the other pci-e
powermacs too (i.e. dualcore but not quad).
